William Mack Davis, Sr.

 William Mack Davis, Sr., 87, of McCalla, AL., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 18, 2025. You may know him as Bill or Billy Mack, but he was known as Papa by his grandchildren, and Pop-Pop by his great grandchildren.

Mr. Davis passed away at home on Saturday, January 18, 2025 after a lengthy illness with his wife by his side who tirelessly took care of him for over four years. He was a lifelong resident of McCalla and Concord, AL.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Vincent Davis. He is also survived by his son Bill, Jr. (Lori), and daughter, Kathy Davis, grandchildren Katrina Hale, Brittany Skinner (Alan), Laura Sirles (Caley), Tyler Davis, and Daniel Hayes (Nicole), and great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Baylor, Marin, Eleanor, and Jonah. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Thelma Davis.

He was a 1956 graduate of McAdory High School where he was voted most talented. He was a member of Structural Ironworkers Local 92 and a member of the National Guard.

Mr. Davis was retired from USX Fairfield and was a member of First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove. Mr. Davis coached baseball at the Rock Creek Little League Park for many years.

Mr. Davis loved all music, but especially Dixieland Jazz. He enjoyed playing his trumpet at church and with various groups over the years. He was an avid fisherman.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Crossroad Baptist Church (744 Dee Hendrix Road, Hueytown, AL 35023). The family will receive friends at 10AM with service at 11AM.
