Phillip Malynn, a resident of Morris, AL., passed away on June 23, 2018 at the age of 96. Born May 27, 1922, he was originally from Johannesburg, South Africa and moved to Alabama in 1988 when he retired. He was a proud WWII Veteran and served alongside the American Army in North Africa and Italy.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, John and Martha Malynn; his brother, Thomas; his sisters: Hester, Elizabeth, Aileen, Margaret and Maureen and their spouses; also his beloved twin sons, Patrick and Michael Malynn; and his ex-wife, Audrey MacCallum.
He is survived by: his daughter and son-in-law, Ceclia (Allan) VanWyk; his grandchildren: Linda (Gary) Lawrence, Bruce (Endang) VanWyk, Graham (Frances) VanWyk, Jade, Lian and Anthony Malynn. His great-grandchildren: Brittany Ryan, Megan (David) Beck, Courtney Lawrence, Sophia (Greg) Kang, Christopher VanWyk and Lauren VanWyk; his great-great grandchildren: Bennett Ryan and Blakely Beck. He leaves behind a multitude of family and friends that loved him and whose lives he impacted. We all agree that his passing ends a dynasty that he created. A mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Gardendale, AL on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.
